What are the safety devices for tower cranes
2024-12-24
The safety devices of tower cranes mainly include the following:
Load limiter: used to prevent the weight of the lifted object of the tower crane from exceeding the maximum rated load, and to avoid damage accidents to the structure, mechanism, and steel wire rope. There are two types of load limiters: electronic and mechanical. Electronic limiters usually work through tension sensors, while mechanical limiters work through swing rods and travel switches.
Torque limiter: used to prevent tower crane from overloading the lifting torque and avoid serious accidents such as overturning. The torque limiter is mainly installed at the tower cap, the root and end of the crane arm, and is divided into mechanical and electronic types.
Lifting height limiter: used to limit the position of the hook during lifting or lowering, preventing equipment damage caused by operational errors. The lifting height limiter is usually installed at the end of the lifting arm or near the lifting drum.
Rotary limiter: used to prevent the tower crane from rotating too much in the same direction and protect the cable from being twisted. The rotary limiter is achieved through a combination of limit switches and small gears.
Amplitude limiter: used to limit the pitch angle of the crane arm to prevent exceeding the limit position. The amplitude limiter is usually installed at the front and rear ends of the running track of the boom trolley.
These safety devices work together to ensure the safe operation of tower cranes under various working conditions, avoiding safety accidents caused by overloading, excessive torque, and excessive lifting.
